Brief Biography of
the Organizer:
Dr Argyrios Varonides is a professor of Physics and Electrical
Engineering at the University of Scranton, A Jesuit University. He
holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University,
Philadelphia, USA, a MS in Physics from Temple University,
Philadelphia, USA, and a BS in Physics from the Aristotle
University, Thessaloniki Greece. He has published extensively in the
field of Photovoltaics (PV), especially in the area of reduced
dimensionality photovoltaic devices. His primary interests include
(a) modelling quantum size effects in solid state devices (b) high
efficiency concepts in solar cells, quantum well solar cells,
quantum dot devices, and superlattices (c) tunneling and hopping
currents in 2-Dimensional solid state devices.
