“Horizon 2020”: Current Challenges for Research and Innovation

Aim: This presentation aims to analyze current opportunities for research and innovation in the context of the Horizon 2020 program. Results obtained until now and advice for successful proposals will be presented. The Horizon 2020 program will be analytically presented, with its primary components being explained. The topics to be presented are Excellent Science, Industrial Leadership and Societal Challenges. The financial data and the distribution of the budget for each topic will be listed. The role of research organizations as points of contact and networking will be explained. The development of a European Scientific & Research Network will be presented that will promote collaborations between academic institutions, research foundations, research groups and individual researchers that are actively participating in scientific conferences and contributing to scientific journals. Finally, a success guide will be given that includes procedures for seeking calls for proposals, searching for partners, devising action plans, initiating the submission procedure and explains the electronic submission procedure, the administrative and other documents required, the structure of the proposal and the evaluation procedure.
